KC style BBQ is pretty much what we do. We have a smoker and most of the time we use a tomato & molasses based sauce but sometimes I mess around and use a mustard based sauce. I also tried a simple malted vinegar and onion sauce (Canadian recipe) and while I liked it the rest of the family didn’t.
