I was a leftist in the late sixties. It was our plan to someday install one of our own in the White House. By the time Bill Clinton came along, I had already left the liberal plantation.
What we have to understand about the American left, is that it’s always been about sex. Oh yeah, they wanted socialism, but what should have been the primary goal would always succumb to the banal urges. Gramsci would be ashamed. Bunch of pikers.
Bill Clinton had to purport to be a “centrist”. It was all a ruse. If you’re a true lefty, he didn’t get much done. His years can be summed up as a failed attempt to “sell” America on socialism, without ever saying the word. Didn’t work. American capitalism was just too strongly ingrained, was delivering for the people, and could not be successfully maligned. So let’s just get everybody laid.
Barack Obama, it can now be observed, clearly attempted to impose socialism, no attempt to sell it to the people. Same outcome. Capitalism has been severely impaired during the Obama years, but not defeated. Obama must feel it’s like some weed in the garden that you whack here and there and it keeps popping back up all over the place. So no surprise, ‘can’t ditch Adam Smith, so we’ll do the bidding of Masters and Johnson, Kinsey, Erica Jong, Madonna, Ellen de Generis. The counter-revolution begins, this time in North Carolina. We’ll survive this too.
As to American capitalism......
We made it. We have survived Obama. American capitalism, though wounded, will heal again.
We’re different than Russia, pre-Lenin. We’re different than China before Mao. Venezuela before Chavez. Cuba before Castro. We’ve tasted the fruits of freedom for 275 years. Makes us difficult to put to sleep for very long.
I think the Obama years destroyed the Democrat party. Pretty much completely. Decades out of power is what they face. Fitting result. Just desserts. Who will fill the void? We’d be wise to keep our guard up.
But for now, capitalism too much like a weed. Clinton, Obama both failed.

I can say with great satisfaction that in the late 60”s I was in the Marine Corps.
That leftie disease is usually tough to beat, glad you were able to put a stake through it’s heart.
Now let’s put a stake through the rest of their hearts, the US Constitution and the United States can survive anything as long as the honest people are paying attention.
Just like the fictional vampires; if you remove the stake, the blood sucking parasites (Prog/Lib/Transie/Socialist/Communist/Democrats come back to life.
