10 APRIL 2016 5:31PM The German military, once the most feared fighting force in Europe, is being forced to lay down its weapons by restrictive new overtime limits. German soldiers taking part in a four-week Nato exercise in Norway earlier this year had to leave after just 12 days because they had gone over their overtime limits, it has emerged.

Sounds like a scene from a Marx Brothers movie
What’s this? A union army?
A 40 hour work week during time of war, smh, not going to win with that.
Exactly why we need to revamp NATO and make those European country’s
pay their fair share and not the US taxpayer. What candy a$$ed nonsense.
Battle of Stalingrad. The Germans are winning, they are just about to take the city but........ Hitler calls a halt as the soldiers would have to be paid overtime and the Fatherland just cannot afford this due to budget concerns.
Nuh uh ! I saw that movie ! Jude Law pushed them back !
So, all along all we needed to stop the Nazis was a....union?
That’s like in War of the Worlds, where the little bacteria took down the martians!
incredible, not long article on Stalingrad.
the Germans used 25 percent of their resources there!!!
those that surrendered said they were mostly apolitical which infuriated that russians.
and Germans hung little girls from trees? to what end?
good read for a later time.
One cannot always believe Russian “official sources”. They change their figures and story to match the current cant of their masters.
they actually hid these statements by soldiers all this time because they wanted a pure victorious story at the time.
but wow you’re right. Could be a bunch of lies.
For a NYer, i’m sometimes quite naive with certain things.
thanks.

I’ve never been in the military, so bear with me.
But,,,,,
Isn’t part of military training involved with “hell weeks” and “crucibles” and other rigorous exercises, which go on for days, and which are not timed on a clock???
And isn’t part of that training the idea that when in combat, you will engage the enemy for as long as it takes???
Can you imagine if General Eisenhower had to consider elapsed time of battle in planning the Normandy invasion??
Good read if you’re dumb enough to believe anything written in the Daily Mail.
I remember in the ‘70’s when the Dutch army went on strike. Nobody missed them much.
Looks like a very interesting article. The book was written by a German who read through over 10,000 interviews that were kept secret because they were just too gritty and graphic for public consumption. I didn’t see anything in the article that seemed very unreasonable. And it all wasn’t flattery for the Red Army. The final passage for example. Steely Vasily Zaytsev was shown to be left with the shakes and bad memories after it ended.
“Vasily Zaytsev, the Red Army’s best sniper at Stalingrad, who was played in the Hollywood movie Enemy At The Gates by Jude Law, shot 242 Germans, but said after the battle was over: ‘You often have to remember, and the memory has a powerful impact. Now, I have unsteady nerves and I’m constantly shaking.’
This did not fit in with Communist ideals of glory and so his comments were suppressed in the archives until accessed by Professor Hellbeck.”
Daily mail has a good track record. They published the east Anglia emails detailing the whole climate change fraud. They published it when Snowden exposed the NSA domestic spying on US citizens and agreements with foreign agencies to spy on Americans.
They provided accurate details of normal crime stories in America that we never see here. This happens too many times to count.
the daily mail is a pretty good source. I don’t know if a single American paper as good.
thanks for the input. Seemed like the real deal.
killed that many people with nerves of steel and now unsteady. wow.
germans were cruel on the march geez.
did you see the movie with Jude Law about the sniper?
hey, i think this witty, delightful, cheery fella complimented me :)
you are the most closed minded person i’ve met in days.
and that’ saying something :)
ciao paesano
So union = bacteria?? You may have something there...
Germany’s “refugee” population jumping for joy, no doubt.
