From the Paul Manafort Wiki. (Not necessarily pleasant reading for Trump Fans. But highly recommended.)

Paul John Manafort, Jr.[1] is an American lobbyist and political consultant. He was an adviser to the presidential campaigns of Republicans Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, John McCain, and is currently employed by the presidential campaign of Donald Trump ...

Yet another "OUTSIDER" hired by Trump.

But seriously, this guy is apparently a real pro. But he is an insiders insider. Personally I think it was a good and necessary move by Trump. It should but won't end the anti-establishment nonsense. Trump is turning into politician. He has to if he is going to win.

After all, he has to convince the American public that he is the right man for the job. Make that the right PERSON for the job. That's not an easy task when you are dealing with a bunch who, on the average, are not that bright and who, at this point, think that a famous felon is more qualified to be President than Trump.

I do not find this unpleasant. I have known what Trump is for decades: an extraverted, egotistical pragmatist. I have never personally liked him, but I decided I would vote for him immediately after he announced his candidacy. Whatever his flaws, he is a patriot who loves America. I am not at all convinced that such can be said of any of the professional politicians in (or, now, out of) the running.
Respectfully, I think you - and many others, especially one like Mark Levin - equate doing the deal with someone with becoming like that someone.
Trump is a builder. Who is he going to hire to get past all the red tape at city hall? An outsider? No. He is a realist. He will get an insider who knows all the ins and outs.
Does that make Trump himself an insider bureaucrat who suddenly loves and lives for red tape? Hardly. He gets it done with the help of that someone, then moves on to the next task, which may require a very different hireling.
On some level, he will become more of a politician - and indeed already has been, as the art of the deal is a similar (but more tangible and realistic) kind of gamesmanship, but I doubt he will ever become the same as what we have en masse rejected.
I could be wrong; I hope I am right.
I do not see that the establishment has given us any viable alternative in this dire state of the Union. All of the others have had their chance, and all have failed miserably - and in many cases repeatedly.
