You would be guessing wrong. I am someone who deals with chronic pain every day of my life. I suffer from psoriatic arthritis and a spinal defect that has my spine sitting 25 degrees left of where it should be. The pain of these two conditions makes some days nearly unbearable for me. My only wish is to be able to keep on working so I can afford the treatment I need which is unbelievably expensive. And yes, I also take opiates for pain relief. The last thing I want to do is accidentally cause my own death by using the very drugs I need to keep me employed and semi-active.
Sometimes I cannot believe the lack of care that comes from people who don’t realize how lucky they are not to have to battle chronic pain. It wears you down, it makes you anxious and depressed. I know my conditions will never get better, they will only get worse so I struggle with what the future holds for me. But I hope you and other like you will stop and think about what people go through and how hard it is to get relief. Try living my worst day and then come and tell me about it.

I am so sorry you are in that place. I truly can’t imagine endless pain with no hope of recovery. Keep looking outside the box. Do not fear opiates. They are important pain relievers. Will pray for you.
