Prince's family has a guardian angel ... who goes by the name George Lopez, because we've learned the comedian has fronted money to the family the singer left behind.
Turns out ... George was tight with Prince, and he learned all of the assets in the estate have been frozen until a judge determines how much the administrator can give family members for living expenses. Prince was generous with his family, giving them money and even homes during his life.
Some of the singer's siblings are now cash strapped because they've been temporarily cut off, and we've learned George has advanced them $20k to cover living and travel expenses and that figure could go up.
We're told George did it all anonymously ... not wanting any fanfare or adulation.
Good job, Lopez.
Does the heir get his money back??????? Who is going to pay George Lopez if Love Child gets all the dough.
I will laugh if George isn't paid back!
They have drilled open The Vault. Incredible amount of music in the vault... He should have left a will in it.
Right now I am not very happy with Lopez. Isn’t he one of the Hollywood elites who plan to leave the US if Trump is elected.
I just happen to be a distant cousin of Prince.
It may be a technicality that we are all distant cousins, but it gives me a claim.
I don’t get it. Have they been sponging off Prince their whole lives so Lopez will continue to allow them to sponge until they get the big bucks? I thought liberals hated people of privilege. Sounds like he should’ve given them a few job leads to help them.
You would think they wouldn’t mind. They are all getting enough from him that they will live well for the next 3 generations.
Do you have a theory as to why he didn’t leave a will? If he didn’t trust lawyers he could have drawn one up on his own and put it in The Vault.
I saw one person theorize that maybe he felt once he was dead it didn’t matter and let them all fight it out.
He was probably familiar with the case of James Brown - who did have a will and a videotape.
Musicians tend to be careless in their personal lives, because they usually aren’t good businessmen. Music is their life and that’s all that matters to them, in many cases.
Prince might have died with $300 million, but if he had commercialized his work, he might have been worth over a billion dollars.
There are all kinds of conspiracy theories about Tupac because there were more albums released after his death than when alive.
Prince’s vault, though, is known to have hundreds or thousands of recordings. So Prince could legitimately have songs released for decades after his death, dramatically adding to the value of his estate and money to his heirs.
The guy who handled Michael Jackson’s estate could easily turn the 300 mill to a billion if he wants another gig.
They get nothing if Love Child is determined an heir.
But for that to happen I think Prince had to have acknowledged him as a son at some point or he has to be on the birth certificate at a minimum.
If someone comes out of the woodwork who claims to be the son of Prince and all he has is a willingness to do a DNA test...he isn’t going to get the money.
Ok. I can understand their concern then.
Here is another tangled web that will lead to a fascinating Estate Case.
I saw something that claimed that Duane was not really a brother and the whole family knew it. Parents just told him he was a brother.
So assume that is true for the sake of argument. What happens to his heir that may now be entitled to a share. Supposedly Duane’s son who is dead had a child. She would have to make the case that Duane was held out to be a son , treated like a son, etc.
This Estate case will make James Brown’s case look like a picnic.
Geraldo should definitely be there when the vault is opened.
Oh yeah, this is gonna be hilarious. Nobody fights over free money like, well, never mind.
He's also one of the most racist amongst them.
Prince was well aware of what could happen with no will:
http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2016/04/26/prince-no-will/
“At that time, Princes half-sister, Lorna Nelson filed a motion to remove Prince as his fathers appointed personal representative.
John had six children set to split around $300,000. But, that court filing from Lorna hints at a strained relationship with her half-brother.
Princes attorneys wrote This is not Lorna Nelsons first foray into frivolous attacks surrounding this probate action and given the history, it will not be the last, and that this move reveals nothing more than anxiousness to get at the money.
