And I know someone that had non-pits jump out of his vehicle to attack the solid bronze cheetah that sits in the intersection in Winston, OR. You’re not likely to change minds on this subject. I’ve had pits and mixes. Treating them as weapons is a good idea.

I had an Aussie who was a gentle, loving family pet. We had her for years.

Out of nowhere, she killed my grandmothers Maltese.

This dog had been around kids and farm animals her whole life. She was trusted with poultry and cats and baby goats. We never had a problem with her -

- until the day we did.

*Any* dog can turn predator in an instant.

Honestly, I find it frustrating that people are so focused on breed. It makes us forget that canines are, at their heart, hunters and killers.

I love dogs with all my heart, but I don’t forget their basic nature.
