I actually looked at German Shepherds and Dobermans, which is what I’ve had in the past. We actually had an issue with the Doberman being overprotective at times. She snapped at someone who approached the car once.

These puppies needed rescuing and our vet trained them herself. After almost 2 years, no issues at all. These two are much more friendly than the Doberman by far, but don’t tell the burglars that.

Yes, Dobermans can be like that, but they can also be very friendly. Shepherds are similar.

My lady Shepherd is the kindest, gentlest most submissive dog, but she also takes guarding the house very seriously. But if we get set upon by another dog while walking, I’m the one who has to do the fighting while she tries to run away. I’m on my own.

Other shepherds are incredibly fierce and can be quite scary. I’ve met a few of those in my life. Definitely a dog that needs to be respected.

But look I can’t fault anyone for rescuing dogs that needs rescuing. Thank you for doing that.
