Any contested convention with the number of delegates Trump will have will guarantee defeat in NovemberAre you suggesting that if he only gets 1236 delegates on the first ballot that he would not be able to sway one of the delegates from one of the other candidates to put him over the top?
Has he pissed off that many candidates and their delegates?
It may be that the only way to unify the party at this point would be for Trump to win on the second or third ballots.
Just thinking out loud.

First, second, third, won't matter how many.
It is what it is, Mr. President Trump.
Although, years ago, I wondered what kind of prez he would make, as a fleeting thought.
Now we get to see, first hand, and I personally wish him all the luck!

I think he will know well before the first ballot what his count would most likely be and if it were 1236 he'd flip an uncommitted before the first ballot. Delegates at the convention know what's going on before the actual vote.

The only way to unify the party is for Cruz and Kasich to drop out and stop their insane quest to let Hillary win.
In the end, that's all they are doing at this point.

(One time Cruz supporter who now prefers Trump. Yes, there are good reasons.)

But I think Cruz was right back in early March when he said there wasn't going to be a contested convention. The possibility of Trump not winning on the first ballot has gotten increasingly theoretical, and I no longer think it realistic.
