Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent DOnofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Martin Sensmeier star in The Magnificent Seven as seven hired guns enlisted to help the people of Rose Creek, who are being exploited by a merciless killer.
Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story, according to IMDB. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers, and hired guns. As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.
The story is originally based on Akira Kurosawas 1954 film Seven Samurai.

I know westerns, and that’s no western.
It’s a Trump commercially, symbolically speaking.
I like Denzel Washington well enough, but I’m tired of black people rescuing everyone after the Apocalypse, in the Wild West, being Norse Gods, being the first Secretary of the US Treasury, etc. etc.
I dream of the day when Scarlett Johansson can portray Rosa Parks in an epic biopic with lots of CGI explosions.
I guess I’m too old to appreciate phony remakes like this, The Magnificent Seven was a classic.
what happened to Tom Cruise and all the other ones that were “supposed” to be in it.
following this for years and these are the guys i get?
i like denzel, Ethan and Vince though.
So, if they had kept the Mexican bad guys, would the World have come to an end?
I like Denzel too, and he’s transcended the “black actor” thing IMO. He’s just a talented actor in any role who happens to be black.
I understand what you are saying, but the original M7 was a remake itself.
So, why not? There are only about four stories out there anyway.
Originality in hollyweird is officially dead. Even when they occasionally release a movie not using a 60’s-70’s title they still plagiarize the plots.
This PC having to have a heroic black in every damn movie is just far too over the top. Make their role historical and accurate or forget it. Same with homosexuals, portray them in the true % they are, and not everywhere.
I am so thoroughly sick of "modern" culture. No wonder I have not set foot in a movie theater in about 30 years.
The original, the Seven Samurai, was excellent. The Hollywood remake of it as the Magnificent Seven was pretty good but pretty ‘50s formulaic.
This remake looks ridiculous.
Be nice if MGM could put out a movie that wasn’t a remake.
I would think there are lots of stories, but only three plots. Man vs man, man vs nature, and man vs himself. What is the other one?
Seven Samurai was the original and it was great—as far from PC as possible. Seems funny that a movie about Japan was the inspiration for such a classic Western, but the warrior ethos and independence transcend culture. I don’t hold much hope that either theme will survive in this modern version.
The sole survivor from the original seven was spared because he was Transgender, and forced to fight against his will.
Modern version . . . white, tongue-talking Christian industrialist whose fracking is causing earthquakes, bad water, and global warming, goes against a black computer hacker, a 90 pound female martial artist, a cross-dressing Special Forces sniper . . .
I thought they were going to do like the Ghostbusters remake, and cast all women.
What could be more grrrrrl power than that?
What is the other one?

Man vs Woman
