I have heard the same thing ie: blacks being more susceptible to cold injury. I remember a TV program a long time ago ( Nat Geo?) looking into the same thing. It all came down to the the presence of “Brown Fat” deposits in the individuals. Slavs.Eastern Europeans,Russians or Caucasians in general had higher levels and it helped stave off cold related conditions whereas Sub Saharan ethnic types had little to no Brown Fat which regulated tolerance to cold.
