Had a long chat with my pharmacist this afternoon and he agrees with you. Bought some magnesium citrate and OJ.
But do you recommend taking it in the morning or at night?
Please advise.

You don’t miss the pain and I don’t miss getting hives.
Can’t eat any kind of peppers no matter how good they are for some.

That’s what I do. Pop a Pepcid and eat what I want.

‘magnesium citrate ...’
Are you talking about that bottled stuff?
It tastes horrible. Loaded with salt and weird flavorings. It works, but not as well as fresh orange juice.
No, just go to the vitamin section where they sell magnesium pills. I take one pill, sometimes two. I’ll never take three magnesiums again — too powerful. Some folks would only need half a pill. Best to do this after a meal. Drink down the pill with a glass of OJ.
It might take as long as three days if you are really backed up.
One more thing — too many irritants [such as standard laxatives or fiber] can eventually ‘sedate’ the digestive tract. The body will try to purge them out for a while. But sooner or later it simply gives up. And they only become part of the problem.
As for timing, it depends on how backed up you are.

Actually the bottled stuff works better in a pinch. But you’ll hate it.
It’s cheaper to take the pills with OJ and something you can put up with more easily as a long term plan.

The pharmacist recommended magnesium citrate pills (seems they come in citrate, sulfate, or chelate--don't know what that means--probably the material the magnesium is attached to for digestion).
The pills are 100mg.

My vitamin supplement magnesium pills are 400 mg. Sometimes I take two pills — 800 mg.
But they are probably not as ‘rapid release’ as your pills?
Uncharted waters here.
May the Force be with you.

careful with mag citrate liquid. No longer used to clean out prior to surgeries and colonoscopies because it very occasionally will take out someone’s kidneys. Permanently.

I put a dash of chili powder in the oatmeal cookie recipe I use to make four dozen at a time, with raisins. It improves the flavor without noticing any chili taste. When I was a young boy. I made and sold poatmeal cookies at a local general store. I used my grandmother’s recipe and her kitchen. she always put a dash of chili powder into the mix, when she combined the dry ingredients.
