That's why I am trying to reach the people who post personal attacks and similar nonsense. If someone disagrees with Cruz on a particular issue or sees a pattern of behavior in his votes that raises concerns about his conservatism (or similarly, if someone thinks Trump's support for abortion 16 years ago is more important than his opposition over the past five years), that is a legitimate point to discuss. The "Lying Ted", "Whining Trump", and now "Fat Dracula" posts add nothing of value and hurt the chances for any republican to win in November.
I'm hoping that FR will return to being a reasonably civilized, friendly, and intelligent forum. It's a long path from where we are, but I'll do my part to encourage both sides to do better. I expect everyone who is not a professional troll (paid by Hillary/Jeb/Soros) to see the logic and lighten up.

Too late. Free Republic has become Trump Republic. The Trumpets scream the loudest, hurl the most insults, spread the most lies and demand that everybody join the Cult of Trump.
It's just pure entertainment now with zero chance for civil discourse.
