Miami (AFP) - The richest Americans tend to outlive the poorest by almost 15 years, and that gap has grown since 2001, said a major study of income and life expectancy this week.

The findings, published Sunday in the Journal of the American Medical Association, were based on more than one billion tax records from 1999 to 2014, as well as government mortality statistics.

The gap in life expectancy between the richest one percent and the poorest one percent was 14.6 years for men and 10.1 years for women, said the study led by Raj Chetty, an economics researcher at Stanford University.

I find this study highly dubious when we all know 0bamacare has eliminated this disparity.

But, if true, the liberal fix would be that when a poor person dies, it's only FAIR to execute a rich person.

It's no wonder liberals want to redistribute wealth. It's a matter of life and death!

The equitable thing to do is go by poundage. For every pound of poor person who dies, a pound of rich people of the same age has to go. Then you would get rich voluntarily people subsidizing poor people so they can live longer and be less massive by buying more expensive but healthier food.

It’s liberal fat logic.

Not only do they have what money can buy, but the rich, yes, on average are smarter than the poor—and they tend to make better and healthier choices through life. Less smoking and obesity and stronger relationships, for example.

They have the nice house, the nice car, the boat. They live longer because they WANT to...

And the thin outlive the fat, and those who exercise outlive those who are sedentary, and women outlive men, and those with office jobs outlive those with physical jobs. There is only one solution to these horrible disparities:

Acquisition of wealth is a LEARNED life strategy. And with the acquisition of wealth, the other attributes (attainment levels of education, better health, longer lives) are natural corollaries. Money may not buy happiness, but total abnegation of wealth does not much improve the score either.

Some 95% of the personal woe in this world is self-induced. People sabotage themselves almost all the time when faced with a path upwards, convincing themselves they are “not worthy”.

But if you don’t watch out for you, who will?

Judging by my observations at Walmart...

I would say Obesity among the poor is the biggest reason.

I don't know too many rich people who habitually stuff cocaine into their nose or guzzle booze as if it were water.

I’m skeptical of causality. For example, perhaps a lifelong drug habit has kept one both poor, and in bad health.

Money may not buy happiness but, it will pay the salaries of a large research staff to study the problem...

Charles Murray describes it all in his book “Coming Apart.”

As the left believes, poverty is not necessarily a driver of bad health, education, marriage, criminal etc... outcomes.

Rather, poverty has become a consequence of poor social, health and marriage decisions.

Generations ago, rich and poor both had similar rates of marriage or education. No longer. Society and the structure of family have been destroyed for America’s lower classes, thus ensuring they will also have worse health, education and economic outcomes.
