These two have met two times before, with Bradley getting the win in their first meeting by way of a controversial decision win.
It began in the same Las Vegas venue, with Pacquiao's sensational victory as a whirlwind of a fighter in June 2001, and ended with this emphatic win over the American who inflicted one of his three grave losses in his last six fights.
In the decade of the 2000s, when Pacquiao was named the BWAA "Fighter of the Decade", people traveled in droves.
"I'm looking for knockdowns in this fight, I did my best, but Bradley's a good counter puncher..."
Bradley didn't agree with the ruling on the first knockdown, but of the second, he said, "Yeah, he caught me good with that one". Manny Pacquiao shouldn't retire", he said. He said he's leaving it all up to Pacquiao whether he would retire or continue fighting.
"I told him you still have a lot of fight left in you".
"Teddy (Atlas) obviously made a difference because this is the best Tim Bradley I've faced".
"I thought at moments tonight he looked better than he has done in a really long time".
In February, Pacquiao apologized for sparking outrage in the Philippines after saying gay people are "worse than animals".
For now, he said, not even a grudge rematch with the now retired Floyd Mayweather Jr. can change his mind.
Pacquiao said before the fight that he felt refreshed after his layoff and stronger than ever.
"Yes I am retired".
Pacquiao said in the days leading up to the fight that his family particularly his wife wanted him to retire.
Pacquiao's longtime trainer, Freddie Roach, was impressed by his 37-year-old fighter. I am not there yet, so I don't know what's the feeling. I promised not to be a boxer one day because boxing is a really hard sport and very difficult.
Pacquiao does not need to return for the money, having taken his career earnings to $500 million with the Bradley fight, per Forbes' Kurt Badenhausen.
The next three rounds followed a similar pattern, with Pacquiao looking the more menacing fighter, relentlessly stalking Bradley around the canvas, cutting off angles and connecting with more meaningful blows.
Joshua became the first boxer in history to hold the Olympic super-heavyweight crown and a version of the world heavyweight title simultaneously with his triumph at the O2 Arena, a few miles from where he won gold at the London 2012 Games. "I just lost concentration and he'd come on strong in the end".
Pacquiao is running for some political office in the Philippines, so it’s quite likely true that was his last fight.
PakMan is the greatest fight since Clay
Pacquiao is already a congressman
I was not aware of that. I only saw a bunch of political signs of him when I was in the Philippines.
Why apologize? Given the actions to force acceptance under threat of courts, media, and grievance groups, it goes against nature. Animals at least act within nature, no matter how wild.
It's not like the US is the only place he can fight.
Looking forward to seeing this one. I’m glad Pacquiao says he’s going to retire, but will he? I think it’s hard for the really great ones to quit. But there’s no sense staying in it until you’re brains are thoroughly scrambled, so I hope he stops now. There’s nothing more for him to prove.
Just thinking the same thing. You have millions. You still have your brain. Call it quits.
Pacquiao is running now to be a Senator.
In his apology he referenced the traditional Catholic concept that he originally meant to express which is loosely “Love the sinner, but hate the sin”.
Ok, that I can see. My worry was that he was trying to appease.
Good to see that it ended up being a case of his forgiveness towards sinners (while admonishing sin).
I’ll clarify further by saying that I can’t dismiss the possibility that his people suggested to him that he could ease the activist nonsense, while remaining true to his beliefs. In his words he said he wanted to explain better that he “loved the sinner and hatred the sin”.
