New York Mayor Bill De Blasio has signed a bill that bans the use of smokeless tobacco products at all ticketed baseball stadiums, sports arenas and recreation areas.
De Blasio signed the bill Wednesday. He said the legislation was important to the health of baseball players and the people of New York.

Typical liberal twaddle. Yes, smokeless tobacco can kill you, no doubt about that. Just saw Tony Gwynn on TV, and he had half a lip removed and was a big chewer. But here’s the deal: The theory is that banning it in ballparks will prevent kids from seeing the players use, so they won’t use. Doubtful proposition. If he thinks it’s so bad, just go ahead and ban its use,sale, etc. Why target one group? This is actually an equal protection of the laws issue.
They won’t ban it because they like the taxes.
