Is anyone being held accountable for this fiasco?

This is just an excuse for the blackouts everyone knew would result from years of California Democrats’ war on coal and nuclear power.

CA shut down a perfectly good nuclear power plant. They are trying to replace that with wind and solar. We can hope that they feel the “bern”.

I suspect that's a rhetorical question but:

It's California, run by democrats.

The taxpayers will be held accountable.

Yes, San Onofre. A very big step backwards for the state.

God Bless Texas!

We replaced our aged a/c units last year, and the difference in the electric bills has been awesome...we're using 30-40% less electricity every month than with the old system. The units will pay for themselves in about five years.

BTW, here's a tip for those building a new home. If it's a two story, upgrade the upstairs cooler to a larger capacity unit. For example, we now have a 4 ton unit for the upstairs. Our old unit was a 3 ton, and the living area was a bit too large for that. Consequently, we had to keep it running 24/7 during the summer. The four ton unit keeps us plenty cool, and it wasn't running all day.

>But the four-month leak that began in October left the facility at one-fifth of its capacity and new injections of gas have been prohibited until all of its wells have passed comprehensive tests.

Umm, who’s at the wheel here? 4 MONTH leak. 1/5 of capacity.

Ah, but if PRIVATE biz/Citizen had done anything *close* to this....

Wouldn’t surprise me that the powers that be are looking for a GS-7/9 equivalent to pin the blame on.

Too large a unit for your space is inefficient, too. You need to have the right people come in and properly size the units to your needs.

That's one nice thing about building your own, not some slapped-together tract home with crap from the lowest bidder.

I lived in L.A. for 11 years, and they had summer blackouts all the time... and they weren’t because of the Porter Ranch gas leak. More excuses from woefully mismanaged government utilities.

“These pipelines also cannot transport gas fast enough to meet the hour-by-hour or changing demands of power plants during the summer when electricity demand peaks,” said Mark Rothleder

Sooooo, doesn’t this mean there would be brown outs
in any event??

Goodness, that would be 250% cooling overcapacity with the insulation standards around here. Do you have any insulation at all? We get summer days over 105, and occasionally over 110, and yet a single 3 ton unit would be adequate for a 2,000 sq ft two-level house.

For heaven’s sake....don’t put stuff like that out. People like you will make others curious enough to actually buy a Copy of Atlas Shrugged and read it. They will read chapter after chapter, written years ago, that perfectly describe what is happening in this country RIGHT DAMN NOW!!!
Back then Mr. Mowen mourned the moving of industry from Connecticut. WE see it now.
Joh Galt’s field of ENERGY, is being shut down one step at a time. America’s largest source of “in house” energy is being shut down.
SO pleaee stop such wonderful educational advice.
