they follow the CO2 trail of your breath
Just a comment to say you have a great ‘about’ page. I’m older than you, but you hit on many of my memory buttons.
SRV and his brother grew up in a neighborhood about a 1/2 mile from where I grew up. A shopping center theater that I often attended in the ‘40-50s closed 15-20 years later and SRV would give free concerts there... before he became famous and while in HS. Best guitarist ever! JJ had a phenomenal voice for soul music.
Apologies to all for a semi-hijack of the thread. Past my bedtime but had to spew some memories before sleep.
I blew the toilet out of my high school bathroom with an M-80...they will do some damage.
***************************************
In the ‘50s, rival high schools were always ‘raiding’ each other. ...I recall some from my school invading a rival school during the day and flushing a couple of cherry bombs or M-80s from a 3rd floor toilet.
Isn’t that the truth.
However, around here in northeast Alabama, yellow jackets are prevalent also.
They usually reside in holes in the ground and usually you can get around cutting over them once or twice without raising their ire.
But if you drag logs over them...something different!
I watched one of my son's jump like a frenzied marionette, after I had pulled a fresh-cut poplar log over the top of a good size nest.
I couldn't hear him screaming over the noise of the tractor, plus I had ear muffs on...but I could see him jumping around and the first thought that came to mind was one of those string puppets, like from Punch and Judy?
It was terrible of me, I know, but I had the best laugh of a long time from that.
His sister later told me that every time he'd jump straight up, he'd holler "OW!"...and she said he did that about 50 times.
I guess you'd have to been there, but it was funny.
Even he admitted to the humor of it later, but he's damned wary of them little suckers now.
OMG, that is hee-larious!
No worries mate.
That thread was all about shooting the bull (?) anyway, it’s nice to just read the little tidbits people will post up sometimes about stuff from their past, you know.
