Sorry, I only turned it on at about 9:40 and she was discussing Byrd with two other people. I was in shock that she downplayed Byrd’s KKK ties. I thought he was a Grand Kleagle, at one point.

“Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”

— Former Klansman and current US Senator Robert Byrd, a man who is referred to by many Democrats as the “conscience of the Senate”, in a letter written in 1944, after he quit the KKK.

“I am a former kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan in Raleigh County and the adjoining counties of the state .... The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia .... It is necessary that the order be promoted immediately and in every state of the Union. Will you please inform me as to the possibilities of rebuilding the Klan in the Realm of W. Va .... I hope that you will find it convenient to answer my letter in regards to future possibilities.”

There are about a hundred variations of how much or how little he was involved. He was talking to a couple of rabid black advocates that were all over her to prove Trump was a racist and hated women, blah, blah, blah. In my opinion, she threw the youth thing (which was one variation that has been printed, it was age 23-24) at them as a brush back pitch. Not defending her, but what’s fair is fair. She followed it up with the VERY touching clip of Trump at a rally with a young woman he helped enormously.

Altogether, it was pretty even handed treatment, if not slightly tilted towards Trump. The two junk yard dogs that were on her were pretty wicked. Just the way I saw it. If you had it on so you could rewind it, you’d see it too, I think, with an open mind. I think Byrd was a Klansman by birth and by nurture, no doubt. Just saying what I just watched.

But he's not a racist.

And she is not a media whore.

I am really sick of an America that would give a crap about that at a time like this.

Who remembers that the second KKK persecuted Catholics with as much enthusiasm as they did blacks?

But you know what? That was a long time ago. Byrd is dead. All those guys are dead.

Now, if you wanted to complain about people who are in the KKK today, you might have a point. Seems a lot more pertinent to focus on the Hildebeest, though.
