Jonah Goldberg on Twitter saying that all CL had to do was to immediately apologize vs. deny, and it would have gone away.
1) No, it wouldn’t and Goldberg knows that he would have been among the FIRST keeping it alive;
2) Trump’s approach all year has been “don’t apologize for anything.” It’s just less trouble. They hate you regardless.
3) The assumption is CL lied-—but about what? I don’t know what statement he made. He said he didn’t know Fields (more than likely, he “knew” her as she was typically dressed, but not dressed on that day in the press poll, which was distinctly different.) I don’t know if he denied grabbing her arm-—or “throwing her down” (which did not happen).
This silly thing never should have come before a judge, let alone resulted in a charge being filed in which Fields clearly lied about “bite marks” and other non-evidence violence.
Nonsense. An apology would be an admission of guilt. He still would have been charged and almost certainly convicted - all on the basis of his apology.
Research isn't that hard to do.

If he’d have apologized no one would even know it happened.
There is audio of Fields and another reporter talking about it right after it happened.... so it did happen, the only question is to what degree. Overblown? Probably.
Trump has a 73% disapprove number with women. Do you really think it helps him to pick a fight with a woman?..... I might add..... even if he is right?
Apologize and move on. If Trump loses it will be totally the work of women voters. This whole thing was stupid and unnecessary.
Everything doesn’t have to result in name-calling and conflagration.
It will end up giving us Queen Hillary who will immediately pardon herself.

When interviewed, CL said he didn’t touch her. He should have said “I moved her when she was body checking the candidate”.
When they found out he did touch her, he admitted that he did. That was a direct contradiction to his previous story. Therefore, his side of the story is suspect.
