A pair of men who staged sloppy armed robberies of two South Claiborne Avenue businesses last October pleaded guilty Tuesday (March 15) in New Orleans' Criminal District Court. The holdups included the robbery of a barbershop the same day the two men got haircuts there, prosecutors said.
Jacolby Jarvis and Rodney James stood before Judge Keva Landrum-Johnson and admitted to robbing the Innovators Barbershop on Oct. 24 and the nearby Jazz Daiquiri Lounge one night later. The businesses are at 3700 and 3400 South Claiborne Avenue, respectively.
The men were sentenced to 15 years and 20 years in prison, respectively.
When the men were arrested Oct. 27, New Orleans police said Jarvis admitted to the crimes but said the holdups were James' idea. Each was charged with five counts of armed robbery with a firearm for the stickups of the businesses and their patrons. Jarvis faced an additional count of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, a gun police said was stolen from the daiquiri shop.

Prosecutor Karen Lansden told the court that victims of the Oct. 24 barbershop holdup recognized the robbers, despite their bandana masks, because Jarvis and James had received haircuts at the shop earlier that day. The armed men ordered five victims to get on the floor of the shop and robbed them of cash and wallets around 7:30 p.m.

Dig the irony of the guy on the right wearing a Christian tee-shirt.
Is Rodney James’s shirt some kind of Christian statement?
The barber shop robbed them and then they robbed it back.
Harvard losing two more applicants.
He be trusting Jesus to keep him outta jail. Jesus, he say, “No, uh-uh, bro. You goin’ down.”
Probably stole it and can’t read.
Bad hair decades, both of them. Rob a barbershop? Really? What, you saw a $20 bill in the register?
We should have IQ tests for criminals. If you are really stupid you are not allowed to be one. The real crooks are cringing at this duo.
May have stolen the shirt too.
Those guys got haircuts earlier in the day?
One would think that Hood Rich’s hairdo would be a dead giveaway, but—depending on the neighborhood—might blend in with most other coiffures.
You're killing me, Larry. I'm glad I don't have any abdominal stitches at present.
Ya that got me too.
He’s displaying that he has trust, presumably in Christ, and he goes out and commits crimes???? What the heck???
Darn.
Now they will have to get their jail time behind them before they start the doctorate programs that each was likely admitted to study in.
If I would have gotten that haircut on the big guy on the left, I would have held up the barbershop too.....just to get my money back....sheesh.
