Lars is the best rock drummer of all time.
I know there's a great deal of raving about the English drummers of old (and dead), but he is superior to all of them.

I saw the band a few times in the late 80s/90s, they put on a solid show. Never left disappointed. I won't compare and contrast drummers or other musicians. I am not technically gifted but I know what I enjoy musically. That said, I always thought Alex Van Halen deserved his due.

Metallica is one of my favorites. I’ve seen them several times, even got to see them when they played with the San Francisco symphony.

“he is superior to all of them.”
Sorry, I’m gonna have to go with John Bonham, Four Sticks and Moby Dick just hasn’t been topped, I’d even take Gingers ‘Toad’ over Lars,

I saw them live a little earlier in their ride... I liked the earlier releases a lot better but I think that goes for 90% of all mainstream bands. I thought it was an Ok show, but not the best of live performances I've seen. It can go either way... the best and worse shows I've ever seen were both Ozzy; obviously depending on his state of inebriation back then. But when he was "on", it was unforgettable. So maybe Metallica was just a little off when I saw them (MSG around 1985 I *think*).
And, I've always thought Lars was just mediocre. Not talking about talent, just style of playing. I've always liked the style from guys like Tommy Lee. The Motley Crue tracks are a LOT more fun to play... the kick/tom combos he uses a lot are awesome and make a ton of noise... to my wife's displeasure. I'm using a Roland TD-20 nowadays so I'm confined to headphones most of the time... not nearly as fulfilling as using twin monitors at full volume. I may be old, but I still like to make a serious racket when the house is empty

Lars Ulrich can barely keep time. He slows down then goes faster and the band just tries to keep up. JMO

Keith Moon is the best drummer of all time. Kneel before Zod, heretic!
