You didn’t imagine that. Happened to 2 of my new laptops at the time and there was no way to go back to 8.0 without wiping out the entire drive and doing a clean install. 8.1 disabled quite a few controls for me that never worked and Lenovo or Microsoft never provided proper drivers to get it to work.

I wasn't. I'm also glad that they gave me 8.1 its much better than 8.0. Not sure what there is to complain about this upgrade.
