"Try not to hurt 'em. If you do, I'll defend you in court. Don't worry about it." [Cheers].

The real estate tycoon's reply to George Stephanopoulos' challenge is classic Trump. As we've seen before, he and his allies talk all the way around a controversy in such a manner as to allow people to hear what they want to hear. In this case, he hedges with a flurry of 'maybes,' claiming that he hasn't looked at the issue yet (reversing himself moments later), while conceding that the ABC News anchor might be right. His hardcore supporters will interpret this as a wink and a nod. Donald's saying what he has to without betraying or condemning us. But he also repeats several times that he doesn't condone violence, statements to which his campaign can point when their candidate is accused of stoking resentment and advocating acts of violence against protesters -- which he has unquestionably done on multiple occasions. Over the course of delivering his noncommittal answer this morning, Trump made this assertion: "I never said I was going to pay for fees." Yes, he did. Here he is in Iowa last month:
Trump Tells Crowd to Knock the Crap Out of Protesters, Offers to Pay Legal Fees during Iowa Speech
"Knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously. Okay? Just knock the hell...I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees. I promise. I promise."
Friendly reminder: Trump's "honest and trustworthy" ratings are worse than this woman's.
Trump is the sort of liar who seems to be almost completely unaware of any of his previous statements.
So many Trump statements are taken out of context. Purposely to deceive the public
Pay for defensive actions that lead to physical altercation not to be the first striker. It is clear to all except
“constitutional scholars” like Cruz.
When he offered to pay legal fees, first of all it was at another rally entirely.
Furthermore, he was talking about thwarting specific protesters in the audience who were plotting to throw stuff at him.
I never took his statement as an open offer to any knucklehead who feels like attacking any protester at any Trump rally.
The pathetic reaching continues...
So many Trump statements are taken out of context. Purposely to deceive the public - exactly. And it is not working this time against Trump.
Boo hoo.
you know what. Cruz sais that bill’s rapes were a non issue.
no..it goes to the integrity of the woman he’s married to.
this class off oddballs and losers making up our primary..I’ll roll the die with trump.
And yet he is still infinitely better than the Canadian/Cuba/Texan.
Trump is the biggest liar out there (well next to Hillary it’s a close 2nd).
When he offered to pay legal fees, first of all it was at another rally entirely.
so you’re saying no one could have watched that rally or been attended both rallies?
You’re the sort of liar who purposely contorts a candidate’s statements in order to score cheap political points.
Chuck Norris just endorsed me
I don't tell my supporters to hit people like Donald Trump
Cruz Bot show me that tape?
Ted Cruz
Trump voters are low information voters
Exit Polls Trumps Voters have more college degrees and more education
Ted Cruz blames Trump for #BLM , Moveon.org and Bernie Voters on Trumps
loses 300,000 Twitter followers
I remember when he said that as it got a lot of air time. I was thinking geez he’s going to regret that comment when one of his supporters does something stupid. And guess what...
He said he would look into it. Just like he told the woman who asked him if he would apologize to the American Indians for taking their land. (Afterwards he asked for one more question that wasn’t “stupid.”)
“I’ll look into it is his way of saying, “FOGETABOUTIT.”
I agree.
They twist and twist and twist and twist...
And some folks join them in doing it here.
This in defense of a man who say he will be a great Christian president.
“Trump is the sort of liar who seems to be almost completely unaware of any of his previous statements.”
It really is spectacular. I really don’t understand the appeal.
If Donald says he didn’t say it then he didn’t say it. So everyone can just take all of those YouTube videos proving otherwise and put them where the ...
Actually that's typical in every election the democrats tend to have more voters with college degrees than republicans. This just confirms my suspicions about Trump and his supporters.
