The incident happened at a home off of 18th Avenue and Northwest 122 Street, where the dog's owner lives with her son. She said she walked outside to see if the garbage had been picked up when suddenly she saw officers arrive in an unmarked police car.
According to the family, the officers showed them a photo of someone who does not live at their home. They believe police were looking for someone who used to live there; they've only been living there for three months.
The woman said when she saw the officers she alerted them about her dog. The American bulldog then came out and allegedly only barked but did not attack the officer. Seconds later, they say the officer shot their dog Charlie in the throat.
"Repeatedly my mom said 'back away, step outside, let me put my dog in a leash, let me hide him so you guys can come inside,'" son Adrian Garcia said. "She never prevented the officers from coming in. She just warned them 'there's a dog inside, please step outside.'"
The family took Charlie to the animal hospital, but doctors had to put him to sleep.
Miami-Dade Police officials said the officers were at the home as part of an investigation and said the shooting is being investigated by the professional compliance bureau.
I would kill them. Wait a week, plan the route and execute a trash day.
“Idiots!”
With guns that they carry and shoot legally.
kill who?
You don't have to be a psychic to guess the outcome => 'He followed all procedures and protocol.'
How so?
It's much worse than just "hotdog" cops. Police are now sadists. They are NOT your friends.
“I would kill them. Wait a week, plan the route and execute a trash day.”
I might wait a bit longer than that, to let things cool down a bit. Less chance of anyone thinking about you as a possible suspect.
And they would never find any bodies. There would just be disappearances...
“Incredible Journey” of 1993 had Chance, an American Bulldog as one of the 3 animal protagonists. Also a Golden Retriever and a Siamese Cat. Stupid cop.
And these asshole cops wonder why they get shot.
However, SHINY BADGES DO NOT CONFER SPECIAL RIGHTS.
That is sad but true.
I only last month had the chance to THANK a police officer (while he was alive) for helping set me on the straight and narrow in my youth.
How many cops who actually CARE about the community are really left?
Fixed that fer ya...
I used to handle 42 USC 1983 cases for a national insurer whose primary business was public entity (school boards, police departments, municipalities, etc.). 95% of the 42 USC 1983 cases were against cops. Our role as the insurer was, of course, to defend the cops in the civil actions brought against them. Even if the claims against them were groundless, I can tell you the majority of the cops we defended were complete a$$holes, with chips on their shoulders that were the size of 2 x 4’s. They were even snarky to us, and we were defending them in court! I tell you, it was a rude awakening.
Yep, it’s not cowardice, it’s a get out of jail card for animal cruelty.
Why does a spoiles child throw a tantrum in a toy store?
Same reason.
In this case, the sadistic cruel officers are not only allowed to get away with it, they are encouraged to do so (”I feared for my life”)
Small dog? A so-called “American Bulldog”? Another version of pit-bull terrier. It is not a “small” dog. Even the guy says so, and the adult pix of the dog show a large dog. Large PBT type dog.
The owner offered to put the dog up. They should have let the owner secure the dog. When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Too low to jump for the throat. I have a foot and a shoe on it that will definitely give any dog under 100 pounds second thoughts about it after the stars clear.
I have scared a mean Doberman so badly when it ran at me that it actually stopped and peed, and I never even touched it. So, I really think that there were alternatives to ventilating the dog.
Why do police get cart blanche on shooting a gun in a high-density urban area. A bullet can ricochet and go right through a frame house. It should be the last resort, not the first.
“And they would never find any bodies. There would just be disappearances...”
My dogs are like children to me. I wouldn’t bother with the worthless cop.
“My dogs are like children to me. I wouldnt bother with the worthless cop.”
My dogs are like children to me also. And the worthless cop would require a lesson in the consequences of messing with my family. I would do no less for anyone else in my family.
