Trump Says He 'Can't' Release His Tax Returns. The IRS Doesn't See Why Not.

Donald Trump says he would like to release his tax returns to the public, but just can't.

"I'm being audited now for two or three years, so I can't do it until the audit is finished, obviously. And I think people would understand that," the Republican front-runner said at Thursday night's Republican debate in Houston.

The Internal Revenue Service and tax experts, though, say he can.

"Nothing prevents individuals from sharing their own tax information," IRS spokesman Anthony Burke said in an email.

Audits aren't out of the norm for someone with Trump's wealth, legal experts say, and there's nothing to stop Trump from making his tax returns public.

"He's not legally prevented from disclosing tax returns publicly. There's no prohibition on that," said Georgetown University tax law and policy professor John Brooks.

"He probably just doesn't want to," Brooks said.

Donald Trump signs a recent Income Tax Return. Good luck finding something in that pile of paper. But on the other hand, it might be easy to find something that could be twisted against him.

Well, gee, we should all believe such an upstanding and beneficial group as the IRS because we all know how much the IRS cares about individuals and how fairly they should be treated. Give me a break.

Are you really naive enough to believe that that is all one single tax return? It’s probably just a stack of paper.

The IRS should not be commenting on this, not even to say Trump could release his returns. The sleaze of ordering the IRS to interfere disgusts me. Actually, everything about Obama and his minions disgusts me.

As Mark Levin said last night the IRS would love the whole Country looking over his returns while being audited.

If he were my Client I would never allow him to turn over his returns.

First of all....He doesn't have to.

Second: No one lese in the Presidential race has. In fact, Cruz has just filed for an extension. (I can see the erasures from here).

Apparently you have never run a company of any size.

His returns are not on two sheets of paper.

Broken down, that stack probably consists of several dozen “books” of multiple sheets.

For instnace listing all of the stocks he owns proably would make a pretty good book in itself.

His return does not have to be released for public scrutiny....never, ever. It is an in house view.

You can see the copier (heated) rolling edges, on the paper.

Why would he clasp bind so many sections of ‘blank paper’? Trump wouldn’t waste $$ doing that.

FAIL.

“He’s not legally prevented from disclosing tax returns publicly. There’s no prohibition on that,”.

And there is no requirement for him to disclose any tax return!

Seriously, who the heck even cares? If he was doing some bad tax stuff the IRS would have fried him for it and it would be front page. I don’t care in NONE of the contestants make their tax returns public. Phony issue.

Why should he release them?
What purpose would it serve?
