WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - A spate of proposed Chinese takeovers of U.S. companies, from the Chicago Stock Exchange to makers of high-end semiconductors, has created a vibrant business for a small circuit of Washington insiders who advise on how to get cross-border deals approved by the U.S. government.
(edit, continuing further down in the article)
China's aggressive, often state-backed overseas buying spree has set off alarm bells among some politicians in Washington who are already on edge as China's armed forces expand their presence in the South China Sea and because of high-profile hacking attacks against U.S. government agencies and corporations, which U.S. officials and security software companies have blamed on China.
Adding to the tensions are attacks on China's trade policy, and in particular its surplus with the U.S., by Donald Trump, who is leading the race to be the Republican candidate in November's presidential election.

Meanwhile, it is my understanding that NO foreign ownership (as in controlling owhership) is available of any Chinese company.
Period.
“Meanwhile, it is my understanding that NO foreign ownership (as in controlling owhership) is available of any Chinese company.”
I am waiting for the day when the Chinese decide to take control of American business worth trillions. They are a cmmunist nation. If you trade with them, you are screwed if they want you screwed. meanwhile, manufacturing has just about disappeared. With the beginning importation of larger appliances (washers, dryers, freezers, fridges) cars will not be far behind. In any event, before we realize it our ABILITY to produce durable goods will have vanished. We will not have the skills. We will be a nation of smart phone and computer software and ecommerce shopkeepers with fulfillment houses. Should we need to defend ourselves, we will have to hurl electronic devices at them. That this inability to maintain a core ability to manufacture is thought of so lightly is the biggest threat we face. We won’t have anyone to build the tools of war if we need them. Nothing to worry about, though. It’s not like wealthy undefended nations have ever been attacked.
Very important article. This is how it works. This is an example of the status quo the Washington Political Class is freaking about if Trump becomes president. This is just one tiny example. Imagine this multiplied by a million and you’ll understand what is at stake for Washington Insiders like Cruz, Rubio, and globalism. This is why it’s so important to a) elect Trump, and b) make sure that Trump and his family have unprecedented security and protection until then (and afterwards).
I’m afraid to read it.
“Meanwhile, it is my understanding that NO foreign ownership (as in controlling ownership) is available of any Chinese company.”
That is correct. Even if you are from Hong Kong you have to have a mainland partner.
We have friends whose mainland partner swindled them out of millions
We’ll keep seeing this sort of thing until American administrations quit scr*wing around with Marxist policies and untie the hands of our businessmen.
John Podesta is named.
NOT a surprise.
Podesta: one of Washington’s principal madames.
Clinton Administration exacerbated this by moving a lot of approval authority to the Commerce Dept. remember John Huang, anyone?
