Cruz is so dishonest and slimy. He knows how Trump feels about guns and yet pushes this crap.
Trump has stated he is pro-2nd amendment and for gun ownership so many times in the public eye it did make me wonder why Cruz would say such a thing. Surely he had to know Trump's position on this. If not, that's a huge oversight.
Cruz is absolutely right. Trump will NOT invest the political capital to confirm a conservative justice. He will “cut a deal” and put up a “consensus candidate” that will easily get votes from Democrats, so that he can “have a win” and we’ll have our next Souter. There is absolutely no way to trust that Trump cares about life, marriage, assault weapons bans, etc. It’s easy to sniff out a true conservative and one who is just saying what he needs to to be elected.
Yea, its clear where Trump stands on gun control. In reference to so-called assault weapons, he was quoted: âwho needs them except criminals and police?â At the time, he called for a longer waiting period for hand guns, rifles and shotguns.
In 2000, Trump criticized Republicans for âwalk[ing] the NRA line and refus[ing] even limited restrictionsâ on guns. In the same year, he also said he supported banning assault weapons and expanding background checks. âI generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun,â he said at the time. âWith todayâs Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record.â
Trumps also believes if government can tag American citizens on the “no-fly” list, they should lose their second amendment rights:

Trump only now panders to the pro-gun voter by calling for ending gun-free zones. The fact remains most of Trump’s properties remain “gun-free” zones.
