In the video, the dog was clearly happy to see his costumed counterpart; during the 15-second clip, he wagged his tail wildly while sniffing the Disney character as the two were face to face, even touching noses at one point.
Steinblums explained in a photo comment under the post that she was practicing the "down-stay" command with Ace, who entered his "formal" training at the end of last month.
"What you didn't see AFTER the 14-15 seconds video where he settled in a DOWN was his DOWN/STAY for a few minutes while Pluto tried to break his stay," she wrote, responding to some negative Facebook commenters

Imagine what that costume smells like to a dog. It’s plush, probably doesn’t get washed too darn often. It’s been touched by 10,000 sticky kids who have in turn touched other interesting things. It’s probably like looking at a whatever a 4-D movie projection would be like to us. That’s my theory as to why dogs hang their heads out car windows. It’s like seeing the best 100 movies over the last 80 years in the space of a car ride.

Because Pluto is Mickey's pet, while Goofy is a full-fledged character like Mickey, Donald and the rest. That's also why Goofy talks and Pluto doesn't.
Disney has a recent history of denial of certain groups and acceptance of all things gay.
