I doubt you could come up with a scenario where I could justify it.
Easy - in a bar, a woman picks up a beer bottle and smacks a man over the head with it, then proceeds to continue the attack.
The man has every right - indeed has a duty - to protect himself with a judicious use of force.
But, just the same as a fight between men, he has a duty to use only necessary force.
When I was in the National Guard I had a buddy of mine who was a police officer and had an incident where him and 2 of his officers had to deal with a woman with a knife that was on some PCP, long story short to get that person under control all 3 of them had rough her up somewhat, and I would have done the same thing.
