Origin of fridge: 1925-30: by shortening of refrigerator or Frigidaire Interesting. I never knew that. I always wondered how "refrigerator" could shorten into "fridge". Just to add confusion, on the railroad a refrigerated railcar is called a "refer" (not the illegal weed).
