Words have meaning, and the rats are trying to make themselves seem better than they are.
Now that I brought it to everyone’s attention, it will be like that stupid ass song that sticks in your mind. You will now notice everytime a spokesperson on TV says it wrong.
Yeah. It’s been bugging me, too. I’ll second that vent.
The democrats themselves complained a few years ago, because they are idiots.
Nothing is farther from "democratic" than the Democrat party.
Yes, it bothers me too. But you are not experiencing election overload. What you are experiencing is Persistent Pontification by Pundits.
Thank you very much. The use of “Democratic” rather than “Democrat” riles me.
It was “Democrat” all my life. I’m not-a-gonna change now.
Last 4 letters of American...I Can.
Last 4 letters of Republican...I Can.
Last 4 letters of Democrats...RATS!
I have been careful to call democrats democrats to their face and point out that historically that is what they have called themselves and they should not be so pusillanimous.
They usually start to cry or rant at that point.
You missed the party.
A few years ago there was a thread on FR that established the following: The "democratic party" hates that name. That's all I needed.
I never did find out specifically why they hate the word. I suspect that it's because it generates visions of "mob rule," which is rather a great synonym.
"Controlling presumptuous Twits" is just too long...
I truly enjoy using the 'wrong' name!
Dems insisted on being addressed that way some time back in the latter half of the 20th century.
I suppose they wanted to paint themselves with a layer of respectability they don’t actually have.
Like Rush, I refuse to use the term, Democratic, when referring to them or their party.
It’s democrat. Dem o crat.
Only trump is pointing this out.
Wait until he has the nomination, he’s going to talk about it a lot more.
It’s what they call themselves (https://www.democrats.org/about/our-party, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Party_(United_States) ).
If you don’t want to use their actual party name, that’s fine but the news is going to use it and I can’t blame them. I have much better words if you want to call them something else (Trump got criticized for one of the words, but something like The Cat Party)
I’ve always hated that, too.
Democrat = noun.
Democratic = adjective.
Besides civics, people are blowing right by English.
ummm it is actually the Democratic Party.
And die-hard D’s actually get upset when people use Democrat Party vs Democratic Party.
You just hit on one of my major complaints of the misuse of the democrats v democratic in media and ALL politicians. It implies the democrats are the only party that is democratic. So I shopped a logo implying they are bloodsuckers.
“It is the Democratic voters, not the Democratic voters.”
Poof reeding is your fiend.
Rush noted this a few years ago.
