Cleveland Browns must keep their eyes on a quarterback in draft (Here we go again)

Don't even think about it.

My father would say that when I'd start to talk about something that ... well ... wasn't even worth thinking about.

I nearly said that the other day when a fan told me, "The Browns don't need to take a quarterback at No. 2. The three top quarterbacks in the draft are supposed to be about the same, so why not take Ezekiel Elliott at No. 2? Then take whatever quarterback is left at No. 32."

If you're the Browns, your biggest need is still a quarterback.

Let Peyton Manning retire. The come out of retirement to play a season or two for the Browns while they develop a draft pick.

Johnny boy was drafted on the advice of a homeless guy, so who will be the "braintrust" this time?

Unless he is the second coming of Adrian Peterson or Ladainian Tomlinson, drafting a RB with the #2 pick is a front office stupidity gone to seed. QB or the best DL or OL player that the Titans leave for you. I’m betting the Titans take Bosa, so Goff or Tunsil would probably be who they SHOULD take.

Let's face it, there are a half dozen tier 1 QB’s, the rest manage the game, see Alex Smith. I would take big fast linemen on either side of the ball. Build a team from the line back. TE’s are blockers, want three big WR’s, free agent CB’s and safeties who are bid. RB is a throw away in today's game. I am not homeless but I can draft better than anyone on the Browns

De’Andre Johnson seems to have what it takes to follow in Johnnie Trainwreck’s footsteps. Trevone Boykin would be a possibility. Jameis Winston. Vince Young has a DUI arrest - not sure that’s enough qualification to return to the NFL. Eli Jenkins - domestic violence arrest. Reece Ryan (WKU)? Nick Johns UVA with just a DUI arrest really isn’t any better than Vince Young.

That’s about all the quarterback prospects I can come up with.

Browns = a losing organization where QBs go to die...professionally, that is.

Will you volunteer to pick up the pieces of limbs and neck that will be left on the field? Elway was smart, he went out on top, and he is still a semi-invalid. Montana not much better. Peyton Manning owes his body better. It's been good to him.

RB is a throw away in today's game.

He doesn't have to be. Todd Gurley of the Rams was NOT a throw away.

Draft? They should just ask for volunteers.

RB by committee. What tier 1 RB carried his team to the playoffs?
Besides that they last 5 years. Very overpaid

I remember there was a rumor the Browns were interested in Manning after his neck surgery but they decided to go with Brandon Weeden instead. As us Clevelanders like to say, “OIC.”

No running back by committee. Tre Mason was not much of a factor and Tavon Austin has been used mainly as a wr and for trick plays. The Rams had an inexperienced and injured line, no big name receivers, and Case Keenin/Nick Foles at qb. There is a big gap between “throw away” and “carry the team”. It all defends on you offense. If you have Gronkowski, he is NOT just a blocker.

There is not a sure-thing QB out there. If I was the Browns GM, I might actually try to build a world class defense first. That takes you a long, long way. Look at Carolina. They have been to the Super Bowl with two different QBs, neither of which I think is superstar material. Both acceptable.

It is remarkable to me that Browns fans keep hanging on to hope. I am sad for them.
