Watched a program called "Great Planes" on the Smithsonian Channel. It was about the Doanld's Boeing 757 they call the "T-Bird". The program does describe the plane but more importantly it shows you a great deal about the man who owns it. It shows his attention to detail, his drive and I think maybe most of all, the way his employees and those who do work for him respect him. I recommend it as a good way to get to know the 'other side' of The Donald'. It could change your vote.
With all due respect, I think putting the word the in front of someone’s first name name is idiotic.
For the most part people within his circle respect him greatly. His children are not hooked on heroin and appearing nightly on the tabloid shows. His ex-wives do not speak unkindly about him. These are all clues that add up to the inherent decency of the man. Perfect? No. Hardworking, patriotic, and smart? Yes.
Got a link?
The only idiotic is complaining about it.
You may not have intended it to be but your comment sure sounds like damning with faint praise.
It demonstrates the level of worship there is for the man, which gives us insight into those who support him.
I saw that a couple of months ago - really impressive. Trump has found people to put around him who share his vision and purpose (like the pilot in this film). Then he trusts them, and they have real pride in their work.
Great leadership skills!
Why? Ex-wives? Reagan’s ex-wife hated him. These are in no way faint praises, they are clues that we should all seek and use to discern properly.
It demonstrates the level of worship there is for the man, which gives us insight into those who support him.”
So “The Gipper” also nauseated you?
I’ve never referred to Trump like that, but it’s just a nickname.
Each to his own.
But, how does that translate into moving us back to a Republic based on constitutional principles?
Isn't that the true need for this country?
'Art of the Deal' isn't a Constitutional principle...
The Gipper was a nickname of the person Reagan played in a movie. People attached it to Reagan in reference to that performance.
The Donald is a marketing creation of Trump himself, putting his ego on full display.
One is a compliment, one is marketing being lapped up.
The truth is, is that after a Community Organizer has sat in the White House for 8 years, anybody else would be better.
The damage to US interests around the world will be the final damning of the current resident at Pennsylvania Avenue.
Yes, Trump is a loose canon.
Yes, he can be vulgar at times and that is definitely not what we are used to. We are used to “polished” liars.
Yes, he can sound sexist and even the classic “racist” but he is not.
He's rough around the edges, he a roughneck billionaire from the Bronx.
Yes, he is unfiltered and many other things but...
can America allow herself to be duped again?
At this crisis point in history (sped up by the current administration) we need a brash, in your face, power projecting, master negotiator SOB. America is so far in the hole that she does not even see the light of day. If this man, Donald, is a super patriot, a man who loves America and shows that he has the guts to at least TRY and move us out of the hole, then he deserves a fighting chance.
No other candidate projects the old Yankee “Can do” attitude and that is a very positive and refreshing breath of fresh air in a country that has stagnated and reversed it's promise since 2008.
No.
People widely didn’t call him that just because they liked some old movie he was in. It may have started like that for a very small group, but it became part of the “marketing” for Reagan no different than “the Donald” is for Trump.
Both are nicknames that people use. There isnt anything positive nor negative about it. Certainly nothing having to do with deifying him.
Yes, two ex-wives, a third who was a nude model, and a book telling how he’d slept with other men’s wives are - by today’s standards and apparently yours - virtues to be commended. And this pearl of wisdom is being spouted on a conservative site! Egads.
There was no other reason for anyone to call Reagan “The Gipper” other than he played “The Gipper” in a movie.
