Only 19 percent of American trust the government to do the right thing most of the time, according to a recent Pew Research poll, down from 77 percent in 1964. This lack of trust isn't limited to the government -- Americans today distrust everything from churches to public schools.

Much of the problem of “distrust” is from the gimmedats that want more and more. Any wonder that Bernie Sanders is so popular with college students? They are taught that socialism (their right to others’ property and efforts) are a human right. ALL should be equal in outcome and not opportunity. Some goes as far to believe that the State should own all production and services - communism. Sigh.

Because civil society, that which connects the individual to society around him, which grounds the individual and gives them a sense of control - is slowly being destroyed and dismantled by ideological government, propagandistic media, and centrally planned monetary system thats rigged against them.

Its the same cynicism I have seen in my years-ago experiences in Eastern Europe and China.

"The fruits of public education."

Yup, and the MSM and the "gimmedat" and "reality show" mentality of this degrading society.

Well-stated. So how did those forces get in place in the USA? Ironically, representative democracy. We elect Carter, Clinton (I’m recalling Bill), and Obama and we end up with totalitarian socialism, which merges nicely with the direction most of the world is going.

I trust the government to defend this country, not open the borders.

I do not trust the government to tell me what the capacity must be of my flush toilet.

I do not trust the government to decide what vegetation I may introduce into my body.

I do not trust media to report criminal outrage that might hurt some ethnic group’s feelings.

I do not trust schools to teach individuality and liberty.

And no matter how cynical I get, it’s never enough.

I “trust” the government to f**k up every process in its control.
I “trust” the government to fail to defend our interests overseas.
I “trust” the government to allow the invasion of terrorist scum disguised as “refugees.”
I “trust” the government to intentionally conduct population replacement through waves of third-world invaders across what was once our southern border.

Only 19 percent of American trust the government

To love one's country is patriotic but to trust one's government is just plain folly.

The founders did not trust government. Why should the citizen trust government?
