the "subject to the jurisdiction" goes BOTH WAYS. Cruz's mother is an American citizen and is subject to it's jurisdiction thus making Ted a natural born citizen. Same for McCain, George Romney, Barry Goldwater, etc.

McCain was born on a U.S. Navy base. That is U.S. Territory like an embassy. George Romney was qualified because he was born before 1934. Ditto Barry Goldwater.

A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.
