The reporter should have done her homework. Raccoons and monkeys can not mate. The kinkajou is a member of the same mammalian family as raccoons and they are often mistaken for monkeys. But they are not a hybrid of the two.

It sounded good!!

Pretty soon...we will hear about a cross between a dog and a cat...called a doat. Loving, loyal, and aloof..all in the same package.

Thank you. I was really scratching my head at that one. A cross that is implied to be regularly living in the wild?

I have a feeling poor editing left out “LOOKS LIKE” when writing it IS a cross between....
