Less than 24 hours after its roaring arrival at the Sundance Film Festival, âThe Birth of a Nationâ has made history with the biggest deal in the festivalâs history.
Fox Searchlight has acquired world-wide rights to the Nat Turner biopic for $17.5 million â a whopping amount that reflects the movieâs critical and commercial prospects and the crowded field of bidders hitting festivals now.

Thought that this was part of our cultural history that was not supposed to be revisited like Amos and Andy.
Hell, they should make a movie about the “Wichita Massacre”. They could steal another name from an earlier movie “In Cold Blood”.
