Officials Say Tennessee Teen May Have Died From Drinking Racing Fuel and Mountain Dew

Logan Stephenson, 16, died on Thursday. According to Greenbrier Police Chief K.D. Smith, Stephenson and a friend started drinking the concoction Wednesday.

Stephenson’s friend was rushed to an area hospital where he is still in a coma.
Two other teens have admitted to drinking the same mixture of racing fuel and Mountain Dew.

So...I’m guessing that in this case racing fuel = methanol?
If so, folks have been making this mistake for years....sigh

Methanol I would guess? Most alcohol racing fuel is Methanol, but IndyCar’s do run 100% ethanol.

I drank Mountain Dew and Southern Comfort in college once and that was near death. I can only imagine a dash of racing fuel added. LOL!

Reminds me of the dog I had that had a taste for gasoline.
Caught him drinking from a pan of gasoline I was using to clean carburetor parts. Shooed him away. He ran around the yard like the devil was chasing him, then just keeled over.

Only 16 years old. A real shame. Yeah, I know, it was obviously not a very smart thing to do, but many of us are damn lucky to still be here despite the dumb things we did as teenagers.
