LA QUINTA, Calif. -

Former President Bill Clinton took time off from the campaign trail in snowy Iowa and New Hampshire to host a charity golf tournament today, but told a reporter he feels ``kind of guilty'' for being in the sunny Coachella Valley.

``I feel kind of guilty because we are so close to the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary,'' Clinton told the Desert Sun newspaper. ``But I made a commitment to this and I want to honor it.''

I know the PGA is always working on marketing relationships to bring in more interest and MORE MONEY, but partnering with Bill Clinton who is trying to buy respectability within the game that is based on fair play and integrity is disgusting to me.

I guess the PGA has no problem accepting gratuity from the power earned through an international money laundering criminal enterprise.

What next, the Al Jezeera Open, or the Bernie Madoff Masters?

Why would he feel guilty since we are close to Iowa caucuses and New Hamp primary? Feel guilty? He is not a candidate for any office so why would he feel guilty not being in either place? Because of Hillary? But isn’t Hillary a big girl who can take care of herself?

The Bob Hope has fallen on hard times. They have a title sponsor no one has ever heard of, all of the big players are in Abu Dabi, and the only celebrity that they can round up is Billy Bob. Dufner was there because he needs the money to send to his Ex, she appears to be the only winner in the bunch.

The tournament wanted to remain being sponsored by a non-profit. I can respect that. Did any others make a sponsorship offer? I don’t know. I guess the other option would be to discontinue the event.

That is my point, no one wants to sponsor the tournament, except apparently Careerbuilder. They have been on the brink of extinction several times in their history, until an influx of money from Tribune, Knight Ridder, and Gannett. Modern day help wanted.

Sponsored by or giving donations to....a (so called) non-profit. When this tournament was the “Humana Challege with the Clinton Foundation” I thought that the money-laundering foundation was supporting the tournament. Later I realized that it must have been like the St. Jude Classic in which the hospital receives charitable donations from the tournament’s profits. How low can things go.

If Bill is involved, a scam is in progress. Now you have Bill and the Media behind it. What could possibly go wrong?
