“Earth has some special features that set it apart from its close cousins in the solar system...” not the least of which is it’s character as a rare “dual planet”
The moon’s size and distance give the Earth distinct advantages for the development of meaningful life.
Mars supposedly had a lot of water at one time in its early history. I guess not enough to subduct enough magnesium?
It’s a over simplification that I’m about to suggest but the moon is and has been in its formation, essential to plate tectonics. The other planets in our system that have something like tectonics have gravitational forces from a gas giant. Of course, Pluto might be an exception.
Perhaps they never had anything like plate subduction and when their monster volcanos stopped spewing up atmosphere and moisture, Mar’s clock ran down so as to say.
His view of the tablets gets to around 4.5bil years ago for the collision or interplanetary event which was the point of origin which doesn't look too bad on this data--(even if a bil years plus or minus off).
Dr. Joseph Farrell's latest works hypothesize that the real formative event was not an incidental collision as described by Sitchen but was in fact an event in an interplanetary war in which the foundational planet was destroyed.
PAR35: “Is natural selection involved in rock evolution?”
Your implied /sarc tag not withstanding, it seems you have a problem with the word “evolution”.
Lots of things “evolve”, especially, so they claim, Democrat politicians, who never seem subject to natural political selection, but simply mutate from one outrageous absurdity to the next.
In other senses, intelligent designs evolve, fashions evolve, opinions evolve, the Universe is said to evolve, all with or without some form of natural selection.
So, it’s a term of art, usually no big deal.
