So--if he hadn't hacked off her hand, he wouldn't have been arrested? Why can't they just say he was arrested for murder?
That was my first impression. Evidently the Daily Mail is annoyed that the killer got the sequence wrong rather than that he killed an innocent woman. I guess that the sequence is is evaluated as part of the investigation. So in addition to going to prison, the killer will probably get a C- as a grade too.
Editing is a lost art.
