I always hated pulling guard in the Army with an empty rifle. Like, what’s the point of carrying a rifle if you don’t have any ammunition?

I learned last year when we visited Arlington Cemetery that even the attacks on the nearby Pentagon on September 11 did not disrupt this guard duty.
