They show Chris Stevens scribbling in his diary, but don’t touch on the content, in which in fact he repeatedly decried his increasingly vulnerable circumstances.

Stevens was repeatedly predicting his own death.

Things were so bad the IT guy admonished to his online gamer group that he DOUBTED they’d survive that very night.

And he didn’t.

NONE of that was in the movie, which I do think all here (and all in the country) really should see.

If Nixon had tried to get everyone killed on the Watergate floor those guys broke into, could we have relied on Hollywood to leave all those parts out..?

Yet that IS what we have, here.

It would have been nice if that was in the movie, but this movie is based only on the book of what happened to the contractors.

You spoke of what Stevens was writing, both in his diary, and in his emails to Washington, for the need for security. And Sean telling his online friends “if we survive tonight,” before anything had even started, and of course he did not survive. Etc. All of it is explained in the book. Who knows, you may want to read the book for a very gripping inner description of what you already saw in the movie. Though I’m sure you feel you might not have the heart to.

Before they even get to the Battle of Benghazi, though, in the book (and I kinda knew the ending...) they do set it up just how WRONG this all was, to even bring the Ambassador to Benghazi for these 5 days. Chris Stevens himself was a fearless, selfless guy, and he had been stationed in Benghazi, with friends there, etc. He was both brave and naive, though he was attempting to get far better security from all concerned.

One thing that really got me was about 75% of the time, we Americans had to rely or hope on locals whom smart operators had no reason to trust. IS THIS GOING ON IN OUR STATIONS ALL OVER THE GLOBE? Because why. WHY do we EVER need to rely on non allied militia whom we cannot even recognize (like by uniforms and such)??? It seems INSANE.
