Despite Cruz winning the birther battle against Trump, Trump kind of destroyed Cruz on the New York Values segment. Cruz was left speechless. He did not fight back. He might have “won” the battle, but lost the war. He needed to destroy Trump for the NY Values.
It was sickening to see the egomaniacal old bastard switch gears and start his emotional recalling of 9/11. Cruz just stood there and looked like the mean guy.

Cruz applauded Trump’s appeal to the NY spirit of 9/11. It was all he could do in response to that particular hail mary.
He did not destroy Cruz on his cheap and sentimental bringing in of 9-11.
Trump did not donate a penny to 9-11 relief but he was willing to use it against Cruz.
