If there has to be one-final-article on this subject posted, I'm glad this was the one. Thanks
Since the Constitution gave Congress the sole authority to define citizenship in the Citizenship Clause, and since the Supreme Court has ruled that their are only two kinds of Citizens, those who are citizens at birth and those who are naturalized, this is a matter of settled law.
Of course, for birthers it won’t be.
“I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.”
What we need is a consensus of lawyers.
LOL
This is just so sad to me. The Constitution was written so that all could understand it. We don’t need so called scholars to explain what is obvious to most.
I went to school during the 60’s we learned in the 4th grade what NBC meant. I am so sick and tired of traditional words having their meaning changed, like marriage.
Cruz was my first choice, after TPA he became my second. Now, not so much.
PING
Oh well, one more liar on the pile.
Bellei was not "born . . . in the United States," but he was, constitutionally speaking, "naturalized in the United States.Rogers v. Bellei, 401 U.S. 815 (1971)
Trump is not saying Cruz is ineligible. He is saying the democrats will sue and motion for declaratory judgment. That will cast an enormous cloud of uncertainty while waiting for the decision.
Trump is unfortunately right.
But Ted as Donald’s VP for 8 years will allow the issue to be settled so that Ted can run in 2024.
Well, was Cruz BORN IN THE U.S.A. or was he BORNE INTO THE U.S.A.? ;-)
Read the supreme court proceeding of the case referenced which do not support the contentions of the article posed. Again the media try and buffalo us.

It will have to come from the SCOTUS.
In 2008, the democrat run senate attempted to derail McCain over the natural born citizen issue.
The test the DEMOCRATS applied then against McCain WAS 1. Born on US Soil and 2. BOTH parents US Citizens.
THAT was the test applied to McCain IN CONGRESS (even though Obama was never even challenged there OR by SCROTUS.
Question 1: Can Cruz pass the same senate test as McCain did? McCain was born on a military installation(US soil) to 2 citizen parents.
Question 2: If Democrats were brazen enough to apply the common law definition to McCain while not to Obama, Do we really think they will not attempt to apply it to Cruz???
Don’t get me wrong... I really do want Cruz to be president.
I don’t trust Trump... leaving nobody else I can think of...
But I don’t think this is as settled as most republicans seem to think it is.
Cruz IS vulnerable according to what happened in the senate with McCain in 2008... NOT because of what DIDN’T happen to Obama.
Arguments and evidence don’t settle things like this. If he’s a good candidate or president you’ll hear less about this from the right (and more from the left). If he’s a lousy candidate or president it all comes back.
In my opinion Trump never really believed that Cruz was not eligible to serve. It is just a sleazy political game apparently born of desperation.
“The Court made it crystal clear that American citizenship is defined only two ways - by the 14th Amendment and congressional statutes. Put simply, a citizen is either natural born or naturalized. Sen. Cruz was not naturalized, so he is natural born. Period.”
I absolutely agree with this but I suspect that it is not going to put this issue to rest.
Of course, whether or not Cruz would be eligible or not has been discussed since he ran for the Senate seat in 2012.
Pretty sure Trump wasn’t running back then.
The Supremes never gave a definition of “is” either. However the Senate and Homeland Security gave the definition as born on US soil and of TWO US parents with SR 511.
