Who was Aldo Mario Bellei, and why should Donald Trump care and Harvard Professor Laurence Tribe know? Because Mr. Bellei puts the lie to Donald Trump's attack on the eligibility of Senator Ted Cruz to be president backed up by Professor Tribe's claim that "[t]he Supreme Court has never addressed the issue.

...by the definition in law...

You are talking about U.S.C. Title 8 - ALIENS AND NATIONALITY, right?

You asked me a specific question about a specific term, “native Born”

I said it is not the same as natural born. It means a place, not a status.

Cruz received his status from his mother of the same status.

That status was natural born.

One could then extrapolate that his status is no different then a native born.

Donald can merely say he will wait it out and pick someone else at the last minute. There is no requirement that a Presidential nominee have a VP before. Let's stipulate he doesn't have to pick a VP at the convention -- though the convention almost certainly has to ratify his pick. But he will have to name a VP at a time well in advance of the election simply to allow ballots to be printed in time for the election.

And it really makes no difference when he names the VP -- if it's Cruz, his name is on the ticket and Trump can't escape the question of eligibility.

All I can say is "holy misrepresentation of the case!"

Yeah, no kidding. Were a cogent legal challenge to be brought against Cruz, Rogers v. Bellei would no doubt figure prominently in the argument by the challenger. The article author does a fine job of spinning the case around.

Bellei was not "born . . . in the United States," but he was, constitutionally speaking, "naturalized in the United States.

That sentence is from the dissenting opinion. Though both the majority and the dissent find that Bellei was a naturalized citizen, even though such existed from birth.

.

“If their parents made such reports”

Technically not requited unless the stay exceeds 5 years.

Passports are good for 10.

Trump has the least chance of all the leading group of getting elected.

The smart money is on Cruz.

You don’t have to like it, but that is the way it is.

Trump has generated a record amount of hatred and animosity, and that will block him from winning much.

When and where was Ted Cruz passport application processed? Why did the Cruz campaign state his mother petitioned US Consulate.

You claimed its not necessary.

Natural law is another term for Noachide law, or God’s law as expressed to Noah.

It does not deal with citizenship.

Citizenship relates to Roman law; the only society that used the term before the US was born.

Roman citizens did not have to be born in Rome, but had to have allegiance to Rome.

The apostle Shaul (Paul in the Greek) was a Roman citizen, born in Syria.

Probably not, since they returned before 5 years.

I have two cousins that were born when their parents were in Italy. They have birth certificates from the provence of Palermo, and no other documents.

But they are American citizens with US passports.

If Princess Grace's kids were registered as American citizens, then I guess they could run for president, too! ( If they met the residency requirement.)
