I still believe Catholic Monarchy is the way to go.
I think the French Revolution was one of the most evil and barbaric acts of human history.
That said, I don’t think Catholic Monarchies are the answer either. Look at the current Pope for proof of that. He is at least as radical as the current POTUS who now occupies the WH.
I have a better idea: How about going back to the idea of a limited government constitutional republic as envisioned by our Founding Fathers. A government designed specifically to protect individual liberty and private property rights and free market capitalism. The Catholic Church has never been very strong on these principles. As a Catholic myself, I know. And the Church’s position on illegal immigration is completely wrong.
History shows that, ‘enlightened despotism,’ tends to lean more to the latter than the former.
Tell that to all of the Protestants burned at the stake.

Hm. There is a reason that our Founders opposed the formation of State religions. I believe they were correct in their assessments.
