I have NEVER spanked my daughter, who will be old enough to vote in November.
We are very close and I couldn’t ask for a kid with better values, integrity and behavior.
I think spanking is at least stupid, and probably worse. I wish Cruz hadn’t said this.
But he’s still my first choice for President.
Not every child has to be spanked. Some won’t mind any other way. Out of three, two of mine had to be spanked a few times, but the other responded to a good talking to. Spanking is always a last resort.
From the anecdotes Cruz has shared, his oldest daughter is a real pistol. I would be willing to bet daddy has never spanked her. Same with my kids. Mom was the disciplinarian.
I needed a spanking every couple of weeks when I was young. It was the only thing that taught my boundaries quickly and effectively. My suck up sister hardly ever needed discipline. I couldn’t have loved my mom and dad and my sister any more!

You were just lucky to have a such a child. I have four daughters. I have done very little spanking or almost none with most of them, and they respect me as well.
My stepson, on the other hand, yes, had to be spanked, and guess what, as an adult now, he thanks me for it. He needed it. I always did it as a last resort if he couldn’t be reasoned with it. Should not be first go-to action, but I’m convinced it’s what straightened him out.
Just count yourself lucky you had a decent child to raise.

I admit that I spanked my 4 obstinate daughters; and I close-fisted punched my 4 sons when I found marijuana in their rooms. (All were over 16 when I did this. Believe me, it hurt my hand more than it hurt their pride.)
