It should also be remembered that the value of an NFL franchise usually rises without any regard to how successful the team is on the field ... so Jerry Jones is a smart businessman even if the Cowboys go 2-12 every year for a decade.

Troof. Also, the money Jerry makes from JerryWorld dwarfs what he makes with the Cowboys. I cover the Baylor-Tech game there every year, and the odd bowl game. Amazes me the number of people buying $9 beer. $75 to park at a Cowboys game, $40 for college games, plus concerts all over the place.

Jones is a brilliant businessman, but he's like Little Bill in Unforgiven. He ain't no carpenter.
